The comic strip makes reference to NX-01 beingin ST:MP, did I miss something or did the writer screw up?

I think the comic is just talking about how the Enterprise-A doesn't look much like the Enterprise NX-01. It doesn't say the NX-01 was IN the movie. I'm not sure what people expected the NX-01 to look like, honestly. It looks perfect to me; what do they need, to see the strings holding it up or something?

I mean seriously, it's 2004, and production design is through the roof these days, especially when compared to the original series in the 60's. I don't think anybody would want to see a ship that looks "worse" than the original Enterprise.

Think about it, designing the NX-01 for the show had to be very difficult. How do you make a prequel to a show that came out in the 60's, when the special effects were so sub-standard, and still stay "true" to the series? To me, the NX-01 looks about perfect, and I think they did a wonderful job designing it.

alot of peoples problem is that it's the wrong class of ship. There aren't supposed to be any sacuer ships yet.

I see. Where'd you hear this? And is it really a "saucer" if it doesn't detach? I'm not challenging you here, just genuinely curious.

I've heard it all over. I think people want to see a Daedelus class vessel since that is Trek cannon. I for one see no problem with a really cool design for the Enterprise NX-01.

ex_darklord: the Enterprise

It was the Enterprise 1701 that was in the movie, A didn't come around til the fourth-fifth movie. The ship that fought Kahn was just a refit of the one they flew around in at that 5 year mission. No one would watch Enterprise if Archer's ship looked like the 60s Enterprise or worse. No doubt the staff for the show looked at the Daedelus class and realized no one wanted to see a large ball with engines either.
